Exercises to avoid when pregnant

It is important to exercise during pregnancy, however, there are some exercises that are too risky to do while you are pregnant. It is essential that you avoid them, even if you think you will be fine. They are not recommended, because they could cause trauma to your bump and increase your risk of miscarrying.

Exercises and sports to avoid

  • Skiing
  • Horse riding
  • Kickboxing
  • Football
  • Hockey
  • Basketball
  • Weight training (this may be ok during the first trimester, but check with your physician first)

Remember: Exercise is not enough, you must also ensure you are keeping to a healthy diet plan so that you can maintain a healthy pregnancy weight.
